As a Design–Build project, the Contractor decided to use composite metal stud panels for the exterior structural non-load bearing veneer. Texas Design Interests, LLC has designed and produced plans for this wall system, both load bearing, and non-load bearing, for several projects, typically for Military Bases. The wall system is constructed with light gauge studs and a 2” concrete skin, cast on the slab and tilted into place. By designing the concrete and metal studs as an composite system, TDI was able to reduce the traditional two step process of building metal studs walls inside of thick concrete tilt panels to a one step process that utilized fewer materials and saves on construction time and labor.
